(Start) Gate next to National Sun Yat-sen University, College of Liberal. → Go uphill on concrete road → Turn left when you hit concrete wall → Bougainvillea Garden ( Rest spot ) → Route A of Shau-Niu Peak ( There is a fork road lead to Jiou-Pan Banyan、Yitiantian ) → Shau-Niu Peak ( Endpoint )

● Route Time: Around 3 hrs ( Back from same routes)

● Altitude: About 330M

Chaishan, Kaohsiung is a place with unique landscapes and caves that made by the coast and the special coral reef limestone, you can enjoy whether it is ascending or hiking in general.

The terrain is gentle and the trails are well-equipped, making it the most frequently climbed mountain in Kaohsiung.

There are several hiking trails connected in all directions, including slopes and stairs in different difficulties, choose a route depending on your physical condition, however, no matter what routes you choose you will be surprised by the beauty of nature in different seasons that brings you the joy and satisfaction.

Let’s take a challenge this time, a little bit difficult routes of Shau-Niu Peak. Start from the southwest of Chaishan and extended all the way to Jiou-Pan Banyan.

Enter from the gate next to the Faculty of Liberal of Sun Yat-sen University.

The concrete road is uphill, step on the crawler, and turn left when you see the concrete wall. You’ll know the route is correct when you pass by the garden.

On the way to Shau-Niu Peaks, you must use your hands and feet to climb up because mostly uphill even some angles are close to 90 degrees. ( it’s a real challenge. )

Shh! Secret Spot - Jiou-Pan Banyan.

Actually, on the way of Shau-Niu Peak, there is another fork to Jiu-pan Banyan, you will find it by following the red arrows. However, you might accidentally step into the military control area by the complicated routes. Find a road map in the beginning or ask someone who is familiar with the area otherwise you might get lost easily.

Finally, you will be amazed by the view of our final destination. The old banyan roots bulked above the ground and branches are twisted spread out to the sky, you’ll feel like walk into the dreamy scene of Hayao Miyazaki’s animation. Enjoy the breathtaking view.
