The owner who is called sticky rice dumplings man, with silver hair over his head, casual sporty look. Act as nimble as a squirrel that can’t tell he is already 77 years old.
Selling sticky rice dumplings from 16 til now. He settled down in this neighborhood around 10 years ago and his family has been selling sticky rice dumplings over 80 years. Most regular customers come to the store since they were kids. Although the neighborhood has been changed a lot. Those kids grow up but they still come back and enjoy the sticky rice dumplings with their kids and it makes the most beautiful scene, it’s like nothing ever really changed.
It starts to sell from 6 in the morning, 300 sticky rice dumplings every day. It’s oped until 12:30 but usually sold out before closing time. Cooking stand pilled up bunches of southern water-boiled sticky rice dumplings with 2 kinds of flavor, pork, and vegetable (with peanuts). Once you order, the owner will take it off the rope, peels the leaves, sprinkles the sauce and the peanuts. The sticky rice is cooked soft and glutinous, which you can easily cut apart with a fork and see the inside. With well-flavored porks, salty duck egg yolk, peanuts. Take a bite of well-balanced lean and fat porks, the taste will bring you back to the good old time. Don’t forget to order a miso soup with a lot of tofu and tiny dried fish.
The owner is full of energy at his age. He’s responsible for selling, his wife is responsible for preparation work, such as washing, preparing and wrap dumplings. In free time, the couple will go hiking Chaishan, walk around to enjoy nature or visit friends, drink a cup of tea. They follow the market rule closed on every third day of the lunar calendar and a month off before Dragon Boat Festival, May in the lunar calendar.
